Wow, I'm taking a beating in the D2 forum becuase I mentioned texting while driving.

Are you guys all against it? I kinda figured a forum like this would be full of text anywhere you darn well please kinda people.

Is it time to start a poll?

Personally, I just use Vlingo to do my texting. It gets it right just about every time and I never have to use a keyboard, swype, etc.

Not sure a poll is needed to confirm the consequences of texting while driving. Just ask the plastic surgeon in Malibu a couple of weeks ago.

Txting while driving is a bad idea. Like anything that takes your attention away from actually driving, its not recommended, and illegal in some places.

I actually posted an idea for an app that would kill txting apps while driving (moving over a certain mph). Big limit is gps has to be enabled and the app as well, but thought it was worth a try anyways.

Texting while driving is incredibly dangerous and illegal in many states as a result. Do some research on it and see the studies done before you jump to judge anyone for being down on it. Studies have shown that a 30 year-old talking on a cell phone held up to the head have a similar reaction time to an 80 year-old. Now, take this distraction factor and throw in all the time your eyes are off the road and on the cell phone. Now throw in a 5 year-old chasing a ball into the street. Now imagine trying to explain to the parents that you were busy telling your girlfriend that you were looking forward to seeing her new lingerie when you got back to the apartment.

Or, imagine you're trying to tell your BFF that you really think that guy was, like, so cool and stuff, so you didn't see the red light ahead. T-bone anyone? How about driving up someone's tailpipe at 45MPH in a 30 zone?

Texting while driving is just plain idiotic. You attention is on something other than controlling a 3000 lb motor vehicle.

You thought wrong about this forum supporting texting and driving, we aren't idiots.

If you use the voice to text feature, it's gotten almost all of my texts correct, with the exception of a few, and i still only use that on a rare occasion (while stopped at a red light), i've seen enough blood-shed from those who have texted while driving who ended up giving the ultimate price, i would not like to follow suit, it is my opinion that if you text while driving you not only put your own life at risk but you risk the lives of everyone else on the road around you. In that regard alone, i'm happy that they are banning texting while driving, or at least making it illegal if caught by the cops.

I just assumed a younger hip crowd... not a bunch of old fuddie-duddies.

So wanting to pay attention to the road makes us old fuddie-duddies? Ooook.

I have to deal with a bunch of you "young enlightened types" during my daily commute. 9 outta 10 are worthless drivers and are either driving well below the speed limit because they're texting OR are driving way too fast because they don't know any better.

Text while at a long stop light all you want, but please pay attention and don't do it while driving.

So only the young hip people text and die?
Glad Im not "Young" or "Hip" so I can Live a bit longer, just hope none of those young hippys hit me while im driving safely.

Wait, I think what he's saying is that only people who are so self-centered that they don't care if they kill, maim, destroy property, or get tickets are "hip" and "young".

I knew I was getting old at 30, but I didn't realize I gave up my "hip" status when I realized I didn't want to live my life with someone else's blood on my hands, or the knowledge that I'd taken away the life of an innocent person simply because I had to tell my girlfriend that I wanted mushrooms on my pizza when I got home, lol.

Tell you what, belome; you point to one NASCAR, Formula 1, or drag racer who texts while driving while they race and I'll agree that it's okay to text and drive. Until that day, consider the fact that they don't.

LMAO!! Ride a motorcycle and tell me what you think about idiots that text and drive. Most people don't pay enough attention when behind the wheel, without an additional distraction. Speech to text is a wonderful thing

Good to see I came along and kicked a hornets nest... seems like I'm good at something.

As for Nascar drivers, they are constantly on the radio, flipping switches, adjusting brake bias, flipping over to the second ignition etc... at 200 mph.
