Sync gmail password

When I change my gmail password on my computer my Fascinate does not agree with it and stops communicating with gmail. I changed it to the same password using the Fascinate. Is there a sequence or protocol I am missing?

I change mine online then wait til my X tells me it's wrong, then enter it.
