Switching from Razr Maxx to G2 and Need Feedback From Others Who Have Done The Same

Display isn't in the drop down menu. When you pull down the notification bar click the gear. That should give you the choice of network, sound, display and general.

You can also get there by simply pressing the menu button and selecting lock screen settings. The far right of the three soft keys at the bottom, without even going to the drop down menu.

LOL yeah you can do that too. I run Apex so that option isn't in the menu anymore.

He might also have it set to list view and not tab view in the menu.

Maybe it's because you have a pin protect on yours. I am on Verizon, but just have swipe to unlock. Seems like you would have to swipe unlock because that's what you do to the shortcuts

That was it! Thanks. I have my pin lock take like 5 min, so when the screen shuts off many times I wake it up and am on the lock screen and can just swipe.
I guess when using a pin lock they take away that option.

Dont expect the G2 to be updated past 4.2.2. Looks like you run ROMs and there is currently a 4.4 ROM so you're covered in that area.

Yeah, thats distressing.. a top notch flagship phone and limited update path... ugggghhhhh Why LG... WHY?!?!?!

I like to stay on the cutting edge and CM has helped a lot with my Maxx so its always an option for the G2 and from what I've read, things look pretty good.

I called VZ the other day and asked if I could be flagged for an early upgrade by one week and was told a flat out NO. Oh well.

OK, I pulled the trigger.... TWICE! One for me and one for my wife to replace her anemic Samsung Stratosphere. She originally wanted a Galaxy S4 which was 49.00 on Amazon yesterday but when I went to order it, it had gone back up to 199.00 and was "currently unavailable", so its G2 x 2 for us and I really think I made the best choice.

Funny thing is waiting for them to be delivered. One says monday, the other tuesday. LOL.. Looks like mine is arriving first. Going to be a long weekend.

..... anxiously waiting to join the G2 ranks.

Woooohhhhooooo! My and my wife's G2's arrived today and I must say that I am extremely impressed. Patiently waited while I charged them both up fully then swapped out sim cards and turned them on and went through the setup process. All went well of course.

Absolutely impressed with the responsiveness of them compared to my maxx. My wife is still getting used to the concept of a soft keyboard though coming from a slider phone but she really likes hers too.

More to come...

I just made that change.

For me, the LG G2 has a better screen, good battery life, nice UI look, and some additional useful features.
That said, I use my phone a lot in the car. NO manufacturer comes close to the quality accessories Motorola makes. The available car docks for the LG are very poor, do not trigger Car mode, and if they did, the Car mode app on the G2 is pretty pathetic compared to what I had on the RAZR MAXX. I now have to run an ugly 3rd party market app and a bulky "universal" holder that requires me to plug in the charger (meaning outside of the holder) activate the car mode app myself, and activate the bluetooth myself. On the moto dock this is instant when you click in the phone. If however, you do not need a car dock, or use the car mode app a lot, then the superior screen of the G2 is well worth it.

p.s. Oh, and I really miss Mot's Smart Actions app. I've been looking for a similar thing on the market but everything I've found seems so complex in comparison.

p.s.s. In addition, I am experiencing some lag when using the G2 Dialer and my construction calculator app. There is a hesitation after touching a number, and if sounds are on you can her the lag before the sound is heard. However, this is not the case when just selecting options.

If you don't mind my asking, how do you trigger the car mode? I've searched and can't find it nor have i found any way to trigger it with the exception of using a magnet, which seems like a poor idea.

Agreed,
As much as I want to get the beast of a G2, I'm sure going to miss using all my (red dot inside) Bionic and accessories.

Yep. Magnet. I purchased the iBolt dock which I read triggered the car mode. However, they make a similar dock specific to the G4, and I think that one works. This does not. I was planning to just JB weld the magnet to the dock. As I said, I'm resigned to live with this phone as is. But unless other manufacturers step up with their accessories, I'll be back to Moto next time. Still can't figure out how to change back to Car home ultra.

Thanks, i was hoping there was some way to trigger it inside the phone itself, like just opening an app, so i could use it with the car mount i have.
