Nothing. I'm thinking I have no choice but to do the SPR Recovery and factory wipe. I'll lose everything I've installed, yes?

You'll have to set up your phone again.

But your contacts will come back through Backup Assistant and

your apps will come back through Market. You'll be fine

Everything that is not on your sd card, but contacts will from google and apps should

Wipe done, phone set up, contacts back in place.

It seems I'm able to retrieve only some of my apps from the Market -- not sure why that is -- but at least I have a working phone again.

Well glad to here your phone is working again, if your missing paid for apps you can download them for free again.
