Stop affect of magnets

For my new Droid I am using the leather pouch for my Treo which has a flap with magnet for staying closed. With all most no activity on the phone the battery is draining quickly and I just realized the magnet on the tab is causing the display to stay on.

Is there a way to turn off the affect caused by the magnet?

If you put the phone in the case with the screen facing the magnet, it won't trigger the dock mode. There is no way to actually turn off that feature.

That's the way I went. When I first got the phone, I used the holder that I had for my Voyager. It was a case designed for a Samsung smart phone, but it fit the Droid. Whenever I was taking the phone out of the case, it had been in car mode. I saw a service bulletin (the same which talks about the camera fix) that said to turn customers away from the holsters that have magnets. I got one that's for the Droid which uses Velcro.
