My latest rom made helix unstable. That really bummed me out. Launcher Pro Beta also gives extra screens and lets you anchor 4 apps to the app drawer launcher so that saved the day for me.

Actually it's up to 14now, or 15 if you don't need to get into the app drawer. The dev is very responsive and posts here.
Then of course there's Quick Desk.
With QD and LP people may not need as many screens as they think.

14? I thought you meant screens at first, not apps. I've got v0.6.2 installed at the moment. ok, look at that, the 4 anchor apps scroll independently from the desktops. More android surprises, the fun just never stops!

I also use Ultimatefave so my apps are organized in that tool too. I keep the middle two icon rows free on all desktop screens and made it one of my anchor apps.

More Icons Widget is another cool little app. 4 icons in the space of 1. Now you really don't need so many screens.

All of these apps are for stock phones.

I use Folder Organizer and have my folders on the extra spaces on the LP dock, Same effect as Ultimate Faves except for the 3D carousel effect I guess. Looks cool, does it play nice with LP?
It's not a good time for me to root right now, so I figure I'll hang tight till Froyo arrives -- or at least through July. Could be that if Froyo is 450% faster that's all I'll need.

I have Aldiko and it works great. There's a free version so it's easy to give it a try.

I've had my Droid since 11/6 and it's still unrooted, mainly because I haven't had the need......yet. I use Apps Organizer and LauncherPro. I have 5 screens, but I could drop that to 4 (or maybe 3).

It's like a car; some are happy with stock and others wanna jump in soup it up.

It's awesome. I've read three full length books on it. Mostly while sitting around waiting for appointments or for my wife to get out of work on days we carpool.

Open source software calibre - E-book management lets you convert your existing libraries and PDFs to the epub format Aldiko uses.

Both the paid and free versions of Aldiko are the same.

If you've ever used cutepdf or other software to create pdf's then you know your library content is endless by converting the pdf's to epub format.

Launcher Pro Beta lets you anchor 15 apps to the app drawer menu! :icon_ banana:

still stock here too. i really only use about 2 full screens, but i spread it out over the 3 to make use of them haha. i have no bugs, no force closes since i got my phone back in december. i have no intentions(or need) to root or anything.

I downloaded calibre, but when it started it asked what ebook system I was using (Amazon, etc). What is the setting for the Droid?

I am still stock...but kinda considering the manual update to 2.2...I like how I have my phone right now - just switched to LauncherPro - love the dockbar! However, I am not sure that it is more stable than TagHome which is what I was using - was very simple and clean and played well with every widget I put on it....but this is a thread on stock or no and I am stock as of right now....
