Steve Jobs Has Passed Away!

Writing an article about Steve Jobs on a Droid forum is typically uncalled for, but this, we have to do. Today the founder and previous CEO of Apple passed away; one day after his latest iOS device was released. This is a really shocking and sad news to write about. I cannot help but feel like a big part of the mobile world has gone with him. He really did some great things, things we in the Android world, are truly benefiting from --iPad, iPhone, and iOS.

Please keep this thread positive and share your thoughts below.

very sad indeed... He was a true visionary that will be deeply missed by the entire technology world. I'm at a lost for words...

Sad to hear it. While the only Apple product I have is an iPod I do know he (through Apple) made a HUGE impact on how we live, even if it was merely competition.

Its Cause of him that android is what it is. and also it cause of him that smartphones is the must have gadget. Thanks Jobs

like FatManInc said, android is what it is because of him.
he revolutionized the phone and computer industry as other things.
he was and still is a great visionary.
May you rest in peace Mr. Jobs.

Steve had a true gift of vision, and he will be sorely missed by the entire tech world. RIP Steve, you *earned* the peace, buddy.

R.I.P. - No one deserves to die in their prime. Cannot believe this came the day after the the 4S was revealed. Reminds me of When I learned that Thomas Jefferson died on July 4th.

Apple haters can say what they want, but in the end, had it not been for that little company in Cupertino, PC, smartphone and tablet technology would not be as progressed as it is. Steve Jobs, through hard work, strong vision, strong will and often times strong arm refusal to do the minimum, made the technologies mentioned above what we have today.

RIP Mr Jobs, your work will live on...

I am not a fan of Apple products and I didn't hate the guy. It only seemed like I hated the guy, but I didn't like the die hard Apple fans who spoke of him as their god. Their words led me to dislike him, which was very shallow of me.

The man was innovative and changed the technology world as a whole, I mean look at who companies are comparing themselves to now (Apple), even those in different electronic industries. I am shocked at this news on top of what has happened near my home (the shootings in Cupertino, which the shooter is still at large). If it weren't for him Android, or this forum, wouldn't be where it is today. Smartphones wouldn't be so mainstream and technology surely wouldn't have been moving as fast as it does right now. He changed the technology game for the better and his contributions will continue to inspire better technology. We lost a genius in the industry, no pun intended, but because of him we can look for better products from all companies.

With all that being said, RIP Mr. Steve Jobs. I wasn't a fan, but I sure as hell respect you.:iphone:

You know I can't really believe how much this news if affecting me, I never met the guy personally, I don't know anything about him other than what we can read publicly, I mean I have always admired his work and what not. But I feel like I lost a friend, I guess it stems from my passion that I have obtained from my phone. Yes I have a Droid but so much of what these smartphones are today can be attributed to his work and his innovation. It truly has become one of my passions to keep up with the newest phone tech news and in doing so you can't help but come across Steve and his team at Apple and all they have accomplished. One of the band members in my favorite band died a few years ago and I had the same feeling I do today. I guess where your passion lays, so do your feelings. I am truly saddened. Thanks Steve and RIP

Sorry if that was kind of an incoherent rant.

Very sad. Although I have never bought an Apple product nor intend to, his vision and inventiveness has had a positive impact on all computer type products that I have ever owned. I doubt that our smartphones, tablets and operating systems would be within 2 years of where they are now without Apple and Steve Jobs. Even though I am not an Apple fan, thank you Steve for what you have given us.

That is very sad. Cancer sucks, he also had carcinoid cancer and that is what my aunt has and she is fighting for her life.

May he rest in peace

Onetenderrebel.. I agree with you how you feel like you lost a friend. I feel that way too because loosing someone from cancer hurts and hearing a life lost from cancer hits home.

I only have a lonely 1st gen iTouch but it doesn't take a geek to see that this man changed the world, literally. Generations will not know a world without iPods, iPhones and more.

RIP

I agree 100%...there are many people who say "I'm going to change the world" but steve jobs truly did. It is hard to imagine what the world would be like if not for his innovation, passion and tenacity.
