Spelling out puncuation

With the period & comma, it seems to try to use context around.

OP, do you pause for just a second after saying period? It seems like when I pause slightly after saying period is when it puts the . instead of typing the word out. I could be crazy though. It's way past my bedtime.

I can't figure out when it works. It's doing period, but not comma for me. Left parentheses comma right parenthesis comma.
I'm about to make an overall recommendation to my extended family to switch over to Android but I can't do it when this isn't working right. I'm doing development so I use both platforms and don't like to get into Wars about which is better, but iOS is definitely doing a better job with the punctuation. Driving me nuts LOL
