Source roms vs stock roms

Are source roms, roms compiled from source code that is somehow obtained and modified. And stock roms are roms that use a base that is already compiled and adds "stuff" on top.

Also what do all the FRF01 and FRG22 mean? Different source versions?

I believe that to be the case. I'd like to know if we're wrong in our assumptions.
