Skype vs Skype Mobile Apps

I just started using Skype and want to know what the difference between the official Skype App and the Verizon Skype Mobile App. From what I can tell, it just looks like the Skype Mobile app uses the cell network for calls, whereas the regular app uses data/wifi (voip) for calls.

The official app looks to be much better in terms of features and updates, as well as having far better call quality on voip compared to the cell network. But of course, I can't uninstall the mobile app (without rooting)...

The official app makes you pay for calls to phone numbers (skype out), the mobile app just uses your plan.

How do you turn off the Skype Mobile. It can't be uninstalled and I did a Force Close, but it seems to turn back on and become the Skype my mobile wants to use to answer Skype Call thus using my Verizon minutes.

You need root to disable it completely.
