Silly questions

I'm currently running a Jrummy ROM. (5.0.9)
Question :
1. Is GTalk part of 2.2, i cant find it in the market, and my gf really wants it for her DI.
2. I have it, but does it use "out of network" text messages, like Yahoo IM?

I think it was integrated into 2.1.. but I don't use it and I'm running 2.2 so can't be sure. Possible that HTC stripped it out from their implementation of the OS because it is certainly an integrated app and not available in the market.
