It should pop up a menu with settings when you place the widget on the desktop. If not, it should be listed in the Apps and you can configure from there.

What do you mean by "multiple effect?" Launcher Pro spans the wallpaper over all your screens automatically unless you tell it not to if that's what you're referring too?

No problem. Basically, rooting allows you to have access to areas of the phone that are otherwise blocked and lets you make changes
