If you download the full size just make the box bigger, when you set it as your wallpaper, and choose the portion you want. It's the easiest way without having to manually resize it to droid resolution.

That comes with Beautiful Widgets. So it's not free.

OneTouch is a free widget pack with customizable colors might look into that if you dont want to buy or cannot wait for the BW pack to come back to the markets HTC is still running the dev around on that
