Screen dimmer?

I find the screen too bright in low-light situation...is there any app to turn the screen off? (or at least like when it's key-locked, which shows that the screen can be less bright than the original 0% level)
I cant seem to find any in the market nor forums...

It can save battery too.

To go the obvious route first... were you aware that you can set the brightness in the settings? You can choose a specific level or have it automatically adjust the brightness based on the ambient light.

Yeah...sure...I turned off the auto adjustment which i find useless. I am using the brightness level widget instead.

What I'm looking for is if there's any way to turn the screen off like what my palm can do. (or at least as dim as when the droid is key-locked)

Power button will turn the screen off. The screen goes 'off' when you lock the phone.

I guess I didn't make myself clear with my poor English...I want the screen off / dimmer during normal usage of the phone, not turning it off!
