The Moto 360 Android Wear smartwatch is barely a few days out from it's unveiling and already the rumor-mill is ramping up. The following intel could just be wanton fan speculation, but there might also be a grain or two of truth to it. Supposedly, the Moto 360 might include a unique charging mechanism called magnetic induction. When Jim Wicks gave his talk on the device, he was coy about the fact that it doesn't show a charging port. Wicks said that Motorola would be using something "secret."
Right now the only "secret" charging tech that folks are coming up with is some form of wireless charging. As it turns out, if wireless charging is in the device's future, then it could be either magnetic induction or magnetic resonance. Current consensus is coming down on the side of magnetic induction since it is the more mature format of the two.
That's not the only tidbit we have on the subject. The other intriguing possibility for the device is that its display will be made of sapphire glass. Sapphire glass has been in the news a great deal lately because there is rampant speculation that the next iPhone will come with sapphire glass in its display. If Motorola launches their Moto 360 Android Wear smartwatch with the same premium materials it could add even more credibility to the device as both a rugged piece of tech and a fashion statement.
