RSD Lite not reading Droid X

I'm on 2.1 and the bootloader reads 29.01 every time I start RSD LITE and load the SBF file "the gift" rsd lite doesn't read my phone it, I was trying to download rubix rom but got stuck on the m screen now mind you the debugging mode was on so not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I tried installing the correct drivers, I put a space at the end of the file, and backspaced it nothing, I restarted I switched usb ports I'm running windows xp 32 bit, I can go into sprecovery but it's not clockmod recovery. Can anyone help thanks
