It's been awhile since I've messed around with the Droid 2 Global. I owned one, but gave it to my mom when i got my droid x (I now have a LG Revo). But when I was still using my Droid 2 Global, the GB Update hadn't come out yet so i was still on Froyo, so i was able to use z4root to root it. Will z4root still work with it being on stock Gingerbgread ? and if not, how do I root it ? and also, will the the Droid 2 Bootstrapper still work for it cause I still have that app saved on my PC> I wanna theme and ROM her phone, So I just want to know if the way I did everything before GB update, will still work, or do i have to go about it a whole different way ?

the phone is on Android 2.3.4. Is that the version that hasn't been rooted yet ?

and whats up with that by the way, how come it hasn't been able to be rooted yet, and is anyone close. I really wanna get my moms phone running better and without all the bloatware, but until i can root it, obviously that cant be done.

Makes me glad I switched to the LG Revolution with its Unlocked Bootloader !

Not sure why it hasn't been done or what the progress on it it but yes that is the version that can not be rooted yet. The latest update even blocks the ability to SBF back to an older firmware.

no z4root doesn't work with moto system version 4.5.608 or new 4.5.629

moto blocked all known root methods in 4.5.629 and trying to SBF back to earlier versions will brick phone

edit: one reason for no known root, is that many are running custom roms
updates do not install on custom roms,
update was likely to block root and SBFing, so not many willing to try

also haven't seen, anyone write that they have tried Zergrush http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582

and/or manual root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315711

Sadly I had to SBF back this weekend and made the mistake of letting all the updates install, I hadn't read about this new one. So now I'm back on stock GB with no root and less impressive battery life  Kinda bummed.

when root method and a SBF is found
devs will make some roms, just might be some time
