Rooted FRG01 to OTA FRG22 not working

I apologize if this has already been answered, I've searched the forums and google and tried various things with no results.

1) I installed FRG01B and rooted it, changed the media player settings for XM and enjoyed it for several weeks.

2) My buddy got the FRG22 OTA update and his phone runs snappier despite the fact that mine is overclocked with SetCPU I want to allow the OTA to upgrade to the latest build, and then re-root and reinstall my root apps but every time it tries the update fails.

I've tried a factory reset after deleting the FRG01 update.zip file on the SD card to no avail. The factory reset doesn't seem to do much except wipe my home screen and run me through the tutorial again.

I did read a long thread about how to update to frg22 and root it using a complicated process including nandroid backup, installing drivers on my WinXP machine, etc.

I'm hoping someone can point me to a quicker way to do this even if it means wiping my SD card manually, since I already backed up the data I care about.

Thanks.

Thanks for the links! May I assume you mean link 4 (Unroot/Back to Stock (2.2) Without .sbf or RSD-Droid 1 Only) ?

If your phone is not working correctly then yes, do link #4, then link #3 when ready to root.

I'm not happy with FRG01B (rooted) after seeing FRG22x run faster on another Droid, and I'm tired of seeing an update message several times each day.

Thanks for taking the time to put together these instructions. People like you make it more pleasant for part-time droid geeks like me to play around with the device without making it a full-time hobby!
