Root on Incredible 2

Is it possible to use the S-off posted here to get root access on my Incredible 2?

The only way to get S-OFF right now is the XTC clip. AlphaRevX has not released their software S-OFF yet. I have seen some Asian users with S-OFF from the factory, but I suspect that their carrier allows it.

You don't need to now. AlphaRev X public beta was released today, which supports the Incredible 2. Only via Linux at the moment, as the Windows executable was broken.

So you can install that w/Linux? Is it difficult? I'm a Windows guy w/a DINC 2.

Just download an ubuntu live cd. Ubuntus website explains how.

If you receive the OTA, you'll have to use the XTC Clip to root. Alpha's isn't capable of rooting GB yet. In the old rooting processes, you won't receive the OTA after rooting, not sure if that still holds here. Imagine it does.

Root. Why? GB ROMs will be available. Just make sure you take a nandroid backup, and keep that SOB safe.

So do I just load the alpharevx.tgz and load it? I'm not sure how to actually run the root on my DINC 2.

Wait til there are solid instructions to root. I think it is only for Linux now. You can check xda. Also dont root unless you have a specific reason to do so.
