Fission 2.2.1 is done and more info will be posted on our website in a bit.

Props & Thanks:
Thank you to all the awesome team members that are now with us. Thanks to our newest members kejar and braway. They have helped us bring Fission from a great ROM to an OUTSTANDING ROM with their work ethic and knowledge.

Thanks to everyone who has donated. You are helping us in obtaining new devices that will allow us to port Fission to the Pro and Global. Thank you so much and if you would like to help our cause you can find the donation info at the bottom of the post.

About Us & ROM:
The first generic Android platform for current and future Droid devices. We are a bunch of mad hackers, modders and developers that were not happy with the current model of Droids being "Blurred" so we began a mission to rid our devices from the blurriness of VZW Android systems. It started with a crazy idea of messing with the Droid2 SDK that has turned into a full fledge AOSP generic type of ROM. We have incorporated many features that were only seen in AOSP ROMs before this. Some of the features include Reboot in Power Menu, custom built Framework, vanilla Android GUI, totally blur free app folder and many more AOSP like features to come in the short term future.

Features:
True Vanilla ROM with generic Android feel, not themed to look line one. No blur apps...
Reboot in Power Menu.
Custom Framework - 10% battery increments with display percent number & without.
Overclock ready out of box.
Lots of free memory.
ROM has root and has been deodexed, and zip alligned.
Busybox installed and symlinks have been applied.
Clean base for you to customize how you like.
And many more...

HotFix:
Please see download links for new patches.

Themes:
Themes are being worked on as you read this, they will be up soon.

Changelog:
2.1 -> 2.2.1
Started with clean 2.3.20 D2 Base & DX 2.3.15
Removed all Blur related files that are no longer needed, not just apps but files within framework, lib, etc and other places.
Upgraded core system files to Android 2.2.1 Generic build. Did not use the leaked 2.2.1 VZW files yet. Done for a reason and you will find out later.
Upgarded almost all Apps to Android 2.2.1 version and VZW apps to the latest versions.
Removed Memo.apk and Notepad.apk
Removed all overclock related files.

2.1.RC.X -> 2.1
Android Keyboard suggest word bar now working properly.
Droid2 Boot Animation has been fixed, no longer will remove compass calibrate. Code removed in install script that deleted compass by accident.
Custom Framework.
Framework displays battery usage in 10% increments.
Percentage display number optional, can be found /sdcard/fission/Add_On.
Bug in contacts, menu, accounts has been fixed, no longer FC.
A few more that I can not recall at this second...Yes I am a bad note keeper.

2.1.RC.2 -> 2.1.RC.3
Removed Datamanager apk and services, no longer needed, yes it still works.
Update MMS package, fixed a small display glitch.
Updateed Phone package.
Update some core packages that may have had some trouble wiht market updates.
Framework on both platforms have been updated. Yes, still using Moto Sliders for now until 2.1 final release.

2.1.RC.1 -> 2.1.RC.2
D2 - If you installed maintenance patch then you are RC2
DX - All previous patches and new framework.
talkback, soundback, kickback and googlefeedback have been replaced with different versions.
Launcher touched up a bit. Different wallpaper(s)

2.0.9.7 -> 2.1.RC.1 - DX Version has same changes minus framework. Will come as patch later.
Settings app has been improved.
Removed Backup Assistant.
Compass Calibrate working properly.
Battery Manager should not FC any more.
Data Manager working properly.

Framework Rebuilt.
Mixture of generic Android and D2 Framework. This was done to give the look and feel of generic Android without giving up stability.
All button font colors are same as generic Android builds.
Tabs in phone app & contact app are the proper colors too.
Lock Screen Sliders for now are the D2 sliders, I am rebuilding the code so it works porperly with the generic Android sliders.

Install Instructions:
Installing ROM:
This Method works for all supported devices.
It is suggested you follow all the steps even if you are coming from previous Fission ROM. If you do not want to wipe then please make sure you mount system & data.

Pre-Installation Tasks:
You must have root. You can download our 1 Click root HERE.
You must have Koush's Bootstrap program for your device. Download from Market or check HERE.

If you are coming from a different ROM, besides OEM ROM then I HIGHLY suggest you take the time out to SBF. If you have not SBFed in awhile then I would suggest doing so and ROM download links will be posted around the time you are done. You can find all the SBF files right here on this site.

I would also take the time to let Google backup your settings and apps since that seems to be the safest way to do it. Just making a suggestion...

  1. Select the ROM for your device (Droid2, Droid2 WE, DroidX or Droid Pro)
  2. Download and place ROM on SD Card
  3. Open Bootstrap
  4. Tap "Bootstrap Recovery"

Bug Reporting:
Please use Our Google Code Project Home to report bugs. You can find it HERE.
Search before posting bug. The bug may have been reported and fixed.

FAQ:
Q. Can I install ROM without performing wipe cache/data?
A. You can but you may have bugs. If you do not follow install instructions then do not post a bug that you may have.

Q. Can I install any theme that is not made for Fission 2.1?
A. You can but you may have bugs. If you do not follow install instructions then do not post a bug that you may have.

Q. I am having reboots, why?
A. Make sure you have installed ROM by following every step of instructions. Back up memory card, format memory card and then copy over only your files back to memory card, do not copy over Android made folders/files. Do not overclock. Uninstall any overclock app you have installed.

Q. I want the battery percentage numbers to be displayed?
A. Reboot into recovery and apply the framework file in /sdcard/fission/add_on folder.

Q. I am coming from previous Fission ROM or different ROM can I install over?
A. Once again, you can but you may have bugs. If you do not follow install instructions then do not post a bug that you may have.

Q. I installed Gmail but it is not syncing?
A. Go to account settings and enable Gmail to sync.

Q. I installed ROM but it is showing VZW build info in About screen?
A. The build.prop, which contains that info has been left as default values. You can change what you want very easily by searching build.prop tweaks. Some things may break so be careful with what you are doing.

sounds like you might have missed an installation step.
clear cache should fix that.

or try this. open bootstrap program and click the Bootstrap Recovery button.

or try this. delete this file /data/.recovery_mode

I'm 100% sure that I followed the instructions to a T. Wiping the cache didn't fix it, but it's not a huge problem. This ROM is amazing none the less

larger text

I really love this rom and thank you for your great work. There is an option for larger text in the gmail settings, is there any way to have that for all other email accounts. I use handcent for mms so I can enlarge the text there. I really have a hard time seeing the text in my email accounts.

I am not 100% sure since I am flashing the rom right now I can't check but I think you can increase overall font size in Spare Parts app
