Since buying a Droid X, I have searched for a way to put mp3 files in as my ringtone of choice. Verizon techs and agents told me the Droid does NOT play MP3 files as ringtones - WRONG
I connected my Droid X to my CPU - created a file folder named MUSIC -- copied some MP3 files into this folder (this does NOT put them into the ringtone list) -- then followed the directions below. Now I have the ringtone I wanted
So for others with the same question ---
Make a song on your Motorola Droid a ringtone.
1. Copy the song file over to the Droid.
2. Open the Music app.
3. Navigate to the music track.
4. Hold your finger down on the track for about 2-3 seconds until a menu appears.
5. Tap Use as phone ringtone.
