Return a damaged phone to Verizon?

I heard Verizon is now charging if you return a physically damaged phone?

My Dinc has a dead pixel, but I dropped it a couple of times (technically it fell haha) and it has some SMALL chips on the side. So if I exchange it for a CPO (bought it new a few months ago) will Verizon charge me for it being damaged?

They very well may.....they can argue that dropping caused the damage, which it very well could.

nah, the pixel was dead on arrival as it were.

But realistically, would they? I know they CAN, they CAN do a lot of things, but has anyone returned a scratched/otherwise damaged phone?

They ask if your phone is damaged before they'll send you a new one. So if you tell them it's damaged, no you can't exchange it, but if they don't know, well....

Question: What does Verizon consider a damaged phone? Dents or cracked screen would obviously be damaged, but how about scratches to the paint or the glass?

It really depends on if the phone looks like its not been taken care of..........or it just looks like "normal wear and tear".

Take it to a Verizon store. They will be able to tell you.

As long as there are no big chunks out of it it won't be a problem. The main thing they care about is a really bad abused phone, cracked screen, or water damage. Other than that you should have any problems

They can tell the difference between normal wear and tear vs. abuse of the phone. To be safe, I would call but I would think you would be fine.

you should not have any problems. there are only 2 reasons (that i have heard of) that would make vzw charge you. those are 1. a cracked screen and 2. water damage. a few nicks and scratches here and there dont matter. thats what you call "normal wear and tear". verizon knows that not everyone has their phone in a case and knows that 99.999999% of people WILL drop their phone at one point or another
