It has to be an APK. The instructions the themer gave were to remove the .zip extention and throw the APK on the SD card. Im hitting a road block when everyone else replying to the OP seems to have no problem. Im sure im just over looking something retarded. Thanks.
If it's an actual compressed .zip file and not just an .apk that got renamed .zip you can open it in Astro to do the install on your phone or decompress it like Tallica suggested. If it's just renamed .zip from .apk then you'll need to have visible file extensions on your PC to do the renaming.

+1 ^^^ this. Just change the extension. It seems as though most times when a .apk file gets downloaded, the extension can get changed to .zip. NOTHING else needs to be done to said file except to change the extension back to .apk.
