Rate the Motorola Droid

Do you mind PMing me how you're doing that?
Gave the phone a 5 so far very happy with it. Have owned it a week now and the only thing I can fault about it is the learning curve and not receiving a users manual (that may be a local Verizon thing). I'm the type or person that has to read/do at the same time to learn and w/o that manual it was trying. Luckily I belong to several other forums and know how valuable a resource they can be. Joined here and found answers too many of the questions I had.

I am proud to announce that the MotoDROID is my first smartphone. So far, I am incredibly glad that I chose it over the Storm, Storm 2, and Droid Eris. I am not a professional at this, but this is what I have experienced so far.
I bought my MotoDROID on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at approx. 2:45 pm (Eastern Time). From the time I left Verizon until I fell asleep, I played and played, learned and learned, and adapted and adapted from my sleek Samsung Alias 2 to this modern wonder. On my first go round with texting I experienced a great amount of discomfort with the portrait style keyboards, both Android and physical, greatly due to the quarter inch lip that is the microphone and speaker. That small fragment of an inch made all the world's difference because I had to reassign keys to each thumb since my left had more reach than the right, but after two hours of texting people my new number and updating facebook, it became a blur.
I was intrigued at how many applications I could run all at one time. I was making phone calls, playing games, on the internet, all at the same time! It blew my mind! And then I discovered Google Maps and Navigation....SCREW VZ NAVIGATOR!!! Why pay when you can get maps that are eons better, smoother navigation, and voice navigation...simply wonderful.
The screen.......it is like having my own personal movie theater. Enough said on that.
The touch screen and my hands were made for each other like lubrication to a chronic masterbater! There aren't any flaws in that area (remember this is my experience, yours may differ). The screen flows like a finely directed symphony.
HOWEVER, one draw back that I am experiencing and that has me quite worried is that I have only had the phone for one day and the phone crashes and reboots...now don't get me wrong, it reboots in 15-30 seconds, BUT THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING WITH A BRAND NEW PHONE.
All in all, the MotoDROID is Motorola's finest communication device yet. Google and Verizon, you two get praise as well! You three together are like Charlie's Angels. :motdroidhoriz::motdroidhoriz::motdroidhoriz::motdroidhoriz::motdroidhoriz:

While you don't get a user guide with your purchase, you can go to the Motorola Support (DROID ) site and they will ship you a User Guide, for FREE, and it will arrive in a few days, I just got mine. It is pretty good and you will be able to do so much more on this awesome phone... Happy Droiding. (0;

so far i'm not totally happy. it's a cool phone overall and it's fast but it's very difficult to type on the keyboard, and the touchscreen .. forget it and you can't use a stylus or finger nails. i still can't figure out my calendar or how to IM people. i gave it a 3 but i hope after more time using it that the rating will go up. i can see it's potential!

I have had the Droid for about a week and love it much. After being a BB Curve user for the last two years I am here to say that going back is not an option. No learning curve at all. So simple and intuitive that after about an hour everything was cool. In all honesty I simply have not seen any other device that comes close to comparing to the Droid. Still waiting for the 2.1 fireware upgrade but much pleased without it. No problems here. :icon_ banana::motdroidhoriz::heart:

I'm previously from T-Mobile. I've had the Razor, then the blackberry curve 8320, then the Tmobile G1. The G1 was so quirky than I got an iphone 2g off ebay jailbroke and unlocked it. I liked it so much I got 2 more for my wife and daughter. I planned on selling the G1 but couldn't bring myself to. I had rooted it and really liked working with it. Back then the droid market was small and the app on the g1 was just black with white and only had basic apps. I used the iphone for about 6 month but kept popping open the g1 to see what had changed and to apply different ROMS to play with it. When adroid 1.6 came out I found myself using it more than the iphone as all I had to do was swap out the SIM card. I then heard about the droid. After ready pre release reviews I had to have it. It meant changing from TMobile who I had been with for 8 years. I absolutely love the Droid. Now that its Rooted it 10 times better to me than the iphone. I mean you had to jailbreak the iphone to be able to send MMS and only a 2mp camera? Come on! The 3gs didn't even have the capibility when it first came out and it only has a 3mp camera. The G1's camera was better than it. The Iphone wasn't worth it to me to change carriers. I changed for the Droid. From someone who's had a blackberry, G1, and iphone, the Droid is 10 times better for what it can do and is just getting better as time goes along. Being able to change things the way I want, even before being Rooted, is a huge plus for me. I've found that all my favorite everyday apps on the iphone are now available for android. The only thing not as good to me is the game quality but that getting better too. I'm rambling on, so, THE DROID ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!
