Rate the Motorola Droid

I've had the phone going on 3 weeks now and I love the phone.

I won't quite give it a 5 because I think there are still a few things that need improvement.

The camera is underwhelming. Fortunately, I didn't buy it for that.

Battery power is pretty bad depending on what you're doing. Today was pretty heavy use and it lasted about 10 hours.

I wish there were more desktop screens than just 3.

GPS is cool, but it loses satellite signals more than my previous phone (LG Dare).

--------------------------------

All minor inconveniences, really.

Otherwise, the phone is awesome.

It was known, but this is old technology and would not have been difficult to implement. This is an issue that they need to fix since it negatively affects the performance reviews and therefore, customer satisfaction, of the phone.

NO voice command??? Who the hell figured that was a good idea? All you have is 8 speed dial choices with ur bluetooth. Man that was dumb...one of the simplest, basic functions MISSING. Now while driving, one has to pick up the phone and thumb thru ur contact list...WOW

Yea, Droid misses something in the "if you driving with it" category for sure. However, I can offer a quick tip in that, if their are people you call often, you can make shortcut on your home page that directly dials them, and if you use "Handcent" you can speak to text message.

Dannydoes does not recommend driving while texting in any form unless the vehicle is stopped, and therefor assumes no liability thereof, hereto, and aforementioned.

Hmmm..with my Bluetooth headset on, I just grab the phone, hold down the right bottom exterior search button (which activates voice search) and speak into the phone "Call Jack Smith" and it does. Then it connects the call to my headset and I put the phone back down on the console. Not sure it could get much easier.

I'm up to 4 stars now despite that it's not as polished or intuitive as my iPhone. The replacement 45/09 for my 42/09 has much better battery life. Frankly, I'm having too much fun with it...yes, I'm going to be keeping it.

what is 45/09 and 42/09?

Those are manufacturer date codes. You will see them printed on the label under the battery. 42/09 is week 42 of 2009. My newer 45/09 (Nov 16) has better battery life. Might have zero to do with the date and more to do with part to part variation.

Droid vs IPhone

I was torn between purchasing the Droid vs the Iphone and I am glad I chose the Droid! I was able to keep my Verizon (I think it is the Best by far) service, and I enjoy all of the features (Lot's to learn though) that I was missing since I gave up my Windows Pocket PC... I only wish there were a plastic stylus or the like because I have "Fat Fingers" when it comes to the Touch Screen... LOL I rate it a 10 out of 10!!! :motdroidhoriz:

Gotta give it a 4. Too often, the thing freezes up (maybe because of some app that i have loaded) and the camera takes pictures like a drunkard. Other than some other smaller things, the phone is nearly perfect.

At least the camera fix is software-related, and rumored (maybe more than a rumor?) to be getting a patch fix soon!

There are memos circulating on the internet that a fix is suppose to come out on 12/11. This and several other issues are suppose to be fixed at that time.:)

Yeah, I know I'll believe it when I see it too, but I think something will happen soon.

Gave it a 4. Slingplayer mobile doesn't work on it and the phone options are either quirky or I haven't figured them out yet. Otherwise, this phone is super.

Droid Owners, Rate the Droid!

This phone does everything I ever wanted a smartphone to do and more.

I wish it had more battery life so I could stream music all day without recharging, but the battery life is still pretty good compared to all of the other phones I've used.

5 of 5. The USB Charger glitch is annoying, but the phone itself is a jewel. Anything that will run Mother 3 in English at 60 fps is good in my book.
