FoxFi is now a paid app to have unlimited tethering.

The free version limits you to 30 minutes of tethering before the connection needs to be restarted.

If your rooted you can use free apps like 'Wifi Tether'.

As for the pin code, did you download FoxFi from the play store? It should not change your lockscreen setup.

+1 to all this.

I used to use Wifi Tether but was running into constant disconnects or unable to connects with it. Fiddled around with settings and all that then got tired of it. Switched over to FoxFi, bought the key, and haven't had a hiccup since. I don't tether much at all, but the fact that it works when I want/need it to work, it will is well worth the price.
