Question - Switching Over to Verizon (Temporary Phone)

I am looking to pick up the HTC Thunderbolt whenever it gets released (crossing fingers for this month).

I am under a family plan with the rest of my family, and am not the primary account holder on AT&T. We are switching to Verizon in anticipation of the iPhone 4's release. Everyone else in the family is looking to get the iPhone, while I want to wait for the HTC Thunderbolt.

If my family switches over on the 10th (or whenever they receive their iPhone's), can I simply get a contract free verizon phone on eBay and use that (and port my number over and become part of the family plan), so that when the Thunderbolt comes out I can then switch over to a contract plan (and still get the subsidized price)?

Any help would be appreciated.

Probably would be best to call verizon. Thunderbolt does look nice!

I'd suggest being very careful and making sure that you get in writing that you are still eligible for a subsidy if you take that approach.
