Question - Smoked Glass

Sorry I searched and I think I know the answer but not sure.

Is Smoked Glass and other ROMS just a new theme to put on the droid.. but requires
the phone to be rooted to do or is there more to smoked glass.. like performance benefits?

I'm new to Droid, so I may not have complete info, but:

It's both. There's a Smoked Glass theme, and also a complete ROM. The latter has performance enhancements (overclocking, for instance). Both require the phone to be rooted.

lunacie is correct. You can either flash with the rom or grab the theme and apply it with Metamorph. Both of which you'll need to be rooted.
