Question about hotspot

I have a new to me Droid a855. I've read through the postings and I don't know what I need to get the wireless tethering /mobile hotspot. I have version 2.2, baseband c_01.43.01p, kernel 2.6.32.9-g874c292, build frg22d. It is supposed to be rooted but I don't know what with. Thanks for your help. BTW, I know enough about computers to cause me problems...lol

To use wireless tether you do need to be rooted. If you do not want to root check in the market for pdanet and easytether.

Did you check to see if you have "superuser" abilities? Icon in drawer looks like a little ninja. If you are, in fact, rooted, there are free wireless tether apps...

No super user icon? Download a rooted app like a wireless tether and try running it. If your not rooted it'll tell you.

found superuser... it was loaded. Got wireless tether... all is good. Thanks for the help. Is there anything else I need on this thing. So far I really like this phone.
