Is there a way to delete a pre-loaded application you don't want/need? When I try to move to garbage pail it comes right back.
Thanks for any wisdom in advance....

You need to root your Droid in order to do that. To find out more about rooting the Droid X read the threads in this section of the forum.

When you move the Icon to the trash bin it just removes the shortcut from the home screen, it does not actually uninstall it.

i tryed to search for an answer but found nothing and didnt want to start a new thread but this is probily a dumb question but can you root the phone just to get rid of the stock apps that came on the droid x 2.2 that have no purpose and then unroot it back or do u have to keep it rooted?
thanks

you could unroot, but then before the next OTA update, youd need to put all the stock apps back on.
