instead of holding the phone sideways(horizontal).. hold it vertical, while taking picture/video. it will make it fullscreen then as well!

I noticed something in the cameras settings. If you choose 8mp, you get the more square, smaller pictures in the gallery. If you choose 6mp, you get the fullscreen images. It actually says that where you click to make the choice.
