Phone won’t respond – Can’t turn off

I was in the middle of reinstalling Swype after receiving the second Froyo update this morning. After about 20 minutes the phone is now frozen on the home screen. I tried to turn off the phone to reboot it but the power button won’t do anything. Any suggestions?

Pull the battery.

I was hesitant to do that but got fed up and pulled the battery. Seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks.
