Screen stops responding after being in my pocket

I have the Droid 2 and I know this is my own fault. I put the phone in my pocket and I know I must be hitting the power button which turns the screen on. After the phone has been suffling around in my pocket, the touch screen does not respond unless I reboot. The slide out keyboard is fine and I can navigate with the kb.

I run the No-Lock app which prevents the "swipe to unlock" bar from activating after x seconds so when I hit the power button while the screen is off, the home screen is active. Is there some sort of swipe pattern I need to do to get the screen to start working without rebooting?

(BTW, the holders dig into my side which is why I put it in my pocket.)
