Put Phone to sleep via the Keypad?

I have a Motorola Droid. The Power/Sleep button on the top of the phone stopped working. I can wake my phone by sliding the keypad open then sliding to unlock the screen. When I want to put my phone to sleep I have to wait for the screen to timeout and go dark before putting it back in my pocket. This is a pain in the ass. Is there another way via the keypad to put the phone to sleep?

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about this. Perhaps if the screen timeout was an application then you could set a keyboard shortcut for it. The most you can really do is go to settings>display>screen timeout and set it for the lowest amount of time possible so you won't have to wait as long. Other than that you would need to get your phone either refurbished or replaced. I'm sure Verizon could fix it so your phone would most likely be refurbished.
