Phone sending messages multiple times

I keep getting told by my friends & fam that they are receiving my messages three times. It's always three, never two or four, but three times. I've understood this to be a somewhat common (or at least not rare) issue, so I'm wondering if there's a fix.

For all intensive purposes, I'm using Ultimate Droid eXtreme 4.0.0 and chomp SMS. I'll try handcent and see if that works any better.

I get the same thing with the stock messaging app on cyanogen 6 rc2

I don't think it's a baseband issue either, because I updated to C_01.43.01P and am still having the problem.
