Phone choices for Feb-March 2012 on Verizon, what would you choose and why?

Honestly google support (or not) would not matter to me either way. It is still vanilla android, just like the Droid 1 was. You can root it and ROM it just as easy with or without Google. Even if it isnt "officially" supported, it is the closest you will get to such a phone on Verizon in the foreseeable future.

Yup, if it was true this statement sums up the final outcome

Here is my line of thinking, if they are already willing to give up support after just a few months on their flagship ICS phone that leads me to believe that there is something wrong with something somewhere. Do I think that the phone would never again be updated? Of course not, but such a strong action so soon after release is a cause of concern and I think anyone would be justified to throw up a red flag and take a good long look before making the leap.
