i use an app called ROM Manager.

it flashes a new rom and backs up the old one for you with a push of a button.

select any rom you want. wait for it to download and then flash it. once it reboots from ROM Manager it's automatic.

ok, I think I screwed up. I have the little ninja so I know I'm rooted but, how do I know if i'm running BB? I downloaded it and then selected it flashed it and went into recovery. I wiped my phone and then installed the update and i'm back at square one

Please tell me you made at least one backup? You should be in the habit of making backups often and naming them something descriptive so you can easily get back to states you know work.

Go to settings>about phone and see what version you are running.

Feeling like a n00b. Hate that. Only been in the IT field for 15 years. lol

Did the same thing. Did EasyRoot.
Installed ROM Manager - free.
(If I can get a free ROM to install I may pay for the upgrade)
Downloaded v.04 of Bugless.
Check WIPE AND BACKUP.
Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery.
It just sits there on the recovery screen.
I thought ROM Manager was easy cheesy? I have an option for RUN UPDATE.ZIP? Is that what I should do?
I am doing a nandroid backup now.

//EDIT//
Backup done.
Options are:
REBOOT SYS NOW
APPLY SDCARD:UPDATE.ZIP
WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET
WIPE CACHE PARTITION
INSTALL ZIP FROM SDCARD
NANDROID (which I just did)
PARTITIONS MENU
ADVANCED

ClockWordMod 2.5.0.1

MAKE A BACKUP FIRST USING ROM MANAGER! Then....

Take the BB .zip and put in in the root (not in any folders) of your SD card. Rename it update.zip (If you don't SEE the .zip then just rename it update and don't type zip), Open ROM Manager, Run update.zip

You have flashed your first ROM! Congrats!

Go to Menu>Settings>About Phone and scroll all the way down and you will see Bugless Beast v0.4 in the build number.

Already backed up. Got the success message.
Rebooting now so I can find bb.zip.
___________
Using Astro to search for bb.zip and found nothing.
/scratches head....

Back to ROM MANAGER
>DOWNLOAD ROM
Select BUGLESS BEAST V.04
DOWNLOAD NOW
Quickly says "DOWNLOAD COMPLETE"
Click on that: ROM PRE-INSTALLATION
Since I did a manual backup I will just choose WIPE DATA AND CACHE. OK.
PRESS OK TO REBOOT.
OK.
........
........
........

It stops at the pic with the Droid and the exclamation point in a triangle.

This is where I usually click VOL and CAM and it goes to Clockwork.

Rebooting again to see if I can find a file called JUST BB?!?!?!?!

Nope. Just 4 MP3 tracks by BB KING. lol
