OFFICIAL Droid X Issues/Problem Thread

VZ takes them back, "refurbishes them" then gives them out for waranty replacements.

All they do is flash em and slap a sticker on em that says "certified", then ship em back out to loyal customers. my latest has a camera button that turns down the volume...and another had a badly damaged screen... Monkeys could do a better job testing the returns.

Basically when you use the warranty, after 30 days, you are paying to be a used phone tester for moto.

if you contact moto they want you to pay to ship back your phone so they can fix it withing 5-7 biz days after receipt.

I'm on my 2nd one. Verizon shipped me a brand new one within a month of my old one being purchased. My first one was pretty bad and always got stuck at the bootloader screen. This one has minor issues like the signal freezing and not responding to airplane mode.

I have had an X since September. Gingerbread is a way better OS than Froyo and minus the wifi tether issues, I loved it. I went back to Froyo for the wifi tether.

help quick question!

i flashed the .253 GB root, but im trying to go back to my 2.2 backup in clockwork recovery because my wifi stopped working and i couldnt connect to my router, but it keeps getting stuck at the red M. Whats going wrong? I format the cache and data before i do anything every time.

You'll have to .sbf back to Froyo. Download RSDLite and get the current .sbf file at Team Blackhat's website.

I ended up turning in my 3rd phone last night, and they agreed to replace my battery too, since that one battery has been the common denominator with 3 fried phones. I asked if I could be sure to get a brand new (not refurb) phone as a replacement, and I was told every phone gets a refurb sticker, whether it's brand new or not. (Hmmm.) Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one having problems.

I can't download or update any apps from the market. I'm receiveing a download unsuccessful message. I've tried clearing the data and cache from the market app and took the battery out of the phone for 5 minutes. I also hooked the phone up to the pc and looked in the android secure folder for duplicate apps but, the folder is empty. Anyone have any ideas?
Same sort of problem but I can download, then it just shows all new apps or updates to be "installing"...but won't install them.

I'm having the same problem. I can download, but once it tries to install the app it pops up with a message that says, "Could not install to SD and/or Phone."

I've cleared the cache and data for the market, checked for duplicate apps in the android secure folder, and unmounted and remounted my SD card. Annoyingly, it still doesn't work. :/

Hey ArouraD- sorry you're having a bad time w/ Android. I would recommended:
1) RDS lite/ .SBF to froyo flash.
2) when you activate the phone do not use Google's personal data/ setting restore feature. (Sorry I can't remember the exact wording)
3) enter your VZ sync password, then DO NOT add any more accounts beside your Google account. You want the phone to not have anything to do besides get your market squared away.
4) open your settings. Get to the battery manager, itstarts in 'night time saver's mode. Change it to 'performence mode' so you get the cuffs taken off your data radios. Change it back if you want when you're done. Also check the data settings, make sure you have the cuffs off your data useage too.
5) conect to wifi, then goto the market. Go to my apps.

You should see a bunch of them promiseing to install. Here's the hard part- put your phone down and leave it alone for a half hour. They should have begun actually installing. If not- you have to toto to each program in the my apps area, canceled the download, then restart it. PITA for sure, but it worked for me. This problem is w/ Google transport service and seems to be fixed in gingerbread. If you want to avoid this ordeal in the future, get titanium backup. Used right, it doesn't just re-install apps, but the data too- so you get your gun bros save state next time you fire it up. I dropped the $5 for the pro version and I can "freeze" all the services/programs that run, take up memory that I never use (car home sound familiar?)
Good luck, let us know if you have more problems.

How do you Add/Delete Note from Phone Contact?

Hi, I have a DROID X with Android 2.2.1
I have i feel a simply issue which has frustrated me. On the previous OS i was able to add a "NOTE" into one of my Phone Contacts and it appears just fine today. However, i can not find out how to edit that not nor can i figure out how to Add or Delete a note to anohter phone contact. I have looked everywhere including the online Help for the phone.
Obviously i did it once but don't know how.
If i go into the Phone contact where i added the note, it appears, if i press "edit" there is no section to edit the "note" etc. Can someone help?
Thanks in advance
Brian

Thank you Pacidermiz. :) I was able to resolve my problem after browsing around to another thread and reading about unmounting my sd and then removing it while updating and installing new apps. And that seems to have worked for now. If my problems continue, I'll definitely consider your recommendations here.

My brother, who has a Samsung Sync, has been trying to get me to root my phone for the longest time now, just to get rid of the excess apps that I don't use. I think I might let him have at it the next time I go to visit him, since he knows what he's doing more than I do in that sense. Heh.

After you press "Edit," scroll down to the bottom of the screen and look for "Additional info." There should be a small arrow to the right of it, pointing rightward. Press on that and it should expand to show you other options, including Notes.

I'm sure there must be this question listed somewhere else but is anyone else having a problem with the phone rebooting everyday? happens to me at least once a day. i wish i could say i notice a pattern of some sort but i don't. happens when it's just sitting on the dresser, happens when i'm on a call, happens even when i', charging it in the docking station. at first it was no big deal...now it's driving me crazy! i've had it since 2/2011. any ideas or thoughts? thanks

no, it's not rooted. I have probably an average amount of apps....nothing too spectacular. I make sure to keep everything up to date. I turn it off at least once a day like I do with my computers....

When my previous 4 droids rebooted,i noticed that it also produced a huge power usage spike way beyond normal, as measured by battey monitor app.

So far DX number 5 has been running ok (except for occasionally sending partial texts)

My opion... Call tech support, but b4 they will send u another, try dialing *228 and using option 2...this updates ur prl which could help.... If not then try a master reset.... If that doesnt work, call custmer support... Explain that u even tried those 2 methods, or else they will have u do them which gets annoying when ur on the phone with them
