No media from speaker

I have no sound coming from my speaker. It just happened today. Anyone else experienced this issue?
My ability to record dictation is also gone. I have a rooted droid x.

What did you root with? The file you flashed may not support it (for some weird reason)

I used z4 root. It happened after I did some app updates. I ended up having to restore a backup image. I read some on line apps reporting that the latest updates were causing media sound to stop working, so I WAS not alone. Thanks for chiming in, but I'm good now. Wondering how others may have fixed.
