No data while on a phone call?

Just found out I can't surf the Web while on a call. This was no problem with my old Samsung S3. Say it ain't so. Seems like a step back.

Do you have advanced calling ON? If so, I think it needs to be OFF to use the phone and surf simultaneously.

I have been doing some research and getting mixed answers. Some say it only works if you are connected to VoLTE with Advanced Calling on. Are you in an area that get 4G?

I'm on a 4g signal but every time I make a call it automatically switches to 1x. Very strange. Thanks for all the help

I did a little research and found out that Advance Calling needs to be turned ON in order to have data and voice at the same time. It works now! Thanks everyone.

I know I'm late to the game at this point, but that's what I thought. Couldn't remember for sure which way it was, but I was leaning towards thinking I remembered reading that it had to be on.

No extra charges, but if you enable the video call feature while on a call with another AC user, there will be additional data consumed when not on wifi.

The call will drop, or you won't be able to surf? I didn't think the call would drop, at least it hasn't for me, but there's so few 3G areas around here anymore that maybe I just haven't been in one lately.

Running into this "issue" on an Edge. If I activate Advanced Calling will it change my plan? I'm on the grandfathered Unlimited Data plan.
