Ok... a couple newbie questions that have come up in my mind since browsing some of the posts.

1. What does "rooted" mean when your phone is "rooted"?
2. What are the benefits of this?

3. My main reason for coming here is with regard to the 2.2 update. I've read lots of bad things about it, things not working properly, errors, etc. But it seems most of these people are the ones who have gotten it via OTA, and the people who installed it manually have had few to no problems.

So... my question is this... what is the best way to install 2.2?

Should I uninstall my advanced task killer program prior to doing any install of 2.2?

You should definitely uninstall this, it will only cause problems down the road

As far as the 2.2 update, I have also thought of installing it manually on my wife's phone because of things I have read I just haven't come across an official copy of the update (of course I am not really searching for on either)
