Back to the keyboard lights.....(sorry, been off for 1 day)
There are several old "I hate gingerbread" threads on the d2g forum. Many people reported this. I thought it was an all-pervasive problem. As a matter of fact, this is also reported in the verizon global and motorola global forums. The soft keys and keyboard react "backwards" to ambient light, bright in sun and off in dark. One way to get the lights to come on is to hold the sensor up to a light source (i.e. find a way to reflect screen light back to the sensor).
Either way, I hope this is resolved with the new update. Oh yeah, it sucks there's no root out
