New event displays as meeting request

Each time I create a new event on my Incredible it appears as a meeting request in Outlook and Google Calendar. I have them all synced up, but this is driving me crazy.

How do I create a new event without having to "accept" "decline" etc. when I get back to my computer and Outlook?

Catherine- I found this on Google: Calendar prompting invites to guests when I don't want them - Calendar Help. To sum up the resolution: "If your phone is running Android 2.3 you shouldn't be seeing this problem anymore. If you're still experiencing issues, please check with your carrier to learn about their plans to update your phone to Android 2.3." I have an HTC Incredible, which runs 2.2, so that would fit with what I'm experiencing. Unfortunately, that phone doesn't support 2.3, so my only choice is to buy a new phone. My next upgrade is Aug of 2012, so I'll suffer through it and decide at time if I want to put up with this crappy Google platform.
