New droid user

I am thinking of getting a Droid. I have been hearing about a new droid coming out. Is that true and when. My needs are mainly for a phone, some email ,and some apps. What type of droid would you recommend and what basic apps. Oh and where are apps available?

There are some great android phones right now - Droid, Droid 2, Droid X, Fascinate, Incredible. And there are more coming.

I would suggest that you go to a verizon store and just play with the phones. That way you'll find out which phones you like. Good luck and enjoy your new phone.

I have had nothing but a bad experience with my motorola droid on Verizon. The headphone jack is defective on the first droid and verizon refuses to acknowledge it. Plus the paint falls off of the camera button after a few days. Go with a non-motorola phone and a carrier other than verizon in my opinion.

welcome to the forum!! i second Bayou and tp's sentiments - the only way to find the phone that's right for you is to go into a VZW store and try them all out. when you do, the one that fits your personal needs and preferences will likely become apparent.

there are some amazing devices out there right now (DX, D2, D Inc, Fascinate, etc), and even more on the horizon. in fact, rumor has it that several new Droid devices are set to be released in the coming days (check out the News section for all the threads on new devices). as for kingsway's input, that is something to consider. but, if you browse around in here, i think you'll find his experience to be the exception rather than the rule (personally, i've had the D1 for a year, and have absolutely no complaints whatsoever - best phone i've ever had, bar none!).
