NEED HELP! Having bugless beast install trouble

HUFFDROID

Member
I'm trying to install bugless beast but when i click install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated) it says install from sdcard complete but the progress bar keeps stopping at the same spot. I was using droid mod. I thought i deleted droid mod but maybe i didn't. If someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

First, they try to keep hacking issues in the hacking section.

Did you try allow update .zip (the option above it)

also...being that you are running droidmod I am going to assume you have not updated or are running a 2.1 ese 81 rom. follow this first.

Root 2.1 by using SPRecovery

1. Download ESE81update.zip
thanks to Pete of Bugless Beast for creating this file
2. rename the downloaded file to update.zip
3. mount Droid to computer
4. copy file from computer to root of sdcard
5. unmount card from computer
6. hold X while rebooting until SPRecovery screen comes up
7. wipe data factory reset
8. install
9. allow update.zip
10. install /sdcard/update.zip (depreciated)

You now have the stock 2.1 rom with root access and can play with Metamorph, apply themes, add a kernel for overclocking and more.

okay firstly did you rename the bugless beast rom to "update.zip" and not
"update.zip.zip"?

secondly, make sure to data wipe and cache wipe BEFORE installing because that will clear everything and ensure a clean install.

thirdly, i believe when doing the update.zip method on spr recovery you have to "allow sdcard update.zip" if you do then make sure to hit that first and then install update.zip from sdcard or whatever it says. (sorry been a long time since i used SPR)

i hope that helps you :)

if a mod could move this to the appropriate section that would be helpful

For what it's worth, even in sprecovery/2.1, installing BB (and some other update.zip files), the progress bar never finishes for me, but it does actually install.

i am not updated to 2.1 and i have done everything you guys have suggested and it hasn't worked. It just freezes on the progress bar.

Mine does that and when I go to reboot the droidmod animation still pops up.

yeah follow what i posted and make sure you wipe data and cache. Also after installing ese81 make sure you make a nandroid backup before installing any roms. This will make it easy to flash your current state.

I will pm you how to make a nandroid backup if you are unsure how.

If a mod havent moved it yet, I will have them move this thread to the RS or bugless beast section.

if none of the above has worked, you could always flash 2.0.1 to unroot, get 2.1 ota, flash sprecovery again, then follow pilot's instructions again to get root, then install BB

it's kind of a "worst case scenario", but it should work

Follow this and you should be fine. You are having problems probably because of DM. You need to be on an ese 81 based device.

Step 1: follow this:

Root 2.1 by using SPRecovery

1. Download ESE81update.zip
thanks to Pete of Bugless Beast for creating this file
2. rename the downloaded file to update.zip
3. mount Droid to computer
4. copy file from computer to root of sdcard

7. wipe data factory reset
8. install
9. allow update.zip
10. install /sdcard/update.zip (depreciated)

after you have ese81 on your device.
reboot into recovery and make an advanced nandroid backup

then install bugless beast by
-renaming it update.zip
-putting it on the root of your sdcard
-allow appreciated
then install udate.zip

I'm offically a DUMBASS i renamed the update.zip.zip lol thanks for your help guys and sorry for the inconvenience.
