My worst nightmare happened today!!

linebacker i tried that site link before that is how i got the ball rolling but it hit a wall. "customer service" is looking into the problem but because it is a weekend i wont know until Monday at the earliest. it is amazing how a communication company doesn't talk to one another.

I hear ya. I went ahead and forwarded your story to my contact at Motorola.

Have anyone tried contacting any of the service centers directly?

motorola called

Progress? we will see. Motorola called yesterday and a very nice "customer service" rep explained that they screwed up and they are sorry. she told me the repairs (if they get done this time) are on the house because of the grief they gave me with the repeat shipping and everything else. she also told me she would keep me informed "every step of the way". so the saga contimues. it is back in the mail it might get fixed but this time i am hopeful.

That's pretty cool they're doing it for free. Hopefully it works out but did they have you do anything different like include a note or case number in the package? Otherwise I don't see how it would turn out any different then before.

Hey widesoups, which address are you sending the phone to? One of the ones from the Motorola service locator page?

I've been super busy fixing lots of iPhones and a few Blackberry and Google models. Haven't followed up with trying to become a Motorola service center.

its a texas address i dont have the exact one but it was emailed to me (three times) by the service rep. also i did get a quote from a repair shop they wanted 230 for the screen and 59 for labor. i was trying to buy a bricked phone on ebay to use as parts but every time the price skyrocketted so i was unable to. parts have got to be impossible to come by because the prices on busted phones are insane.

Yes, tonight at about 6:45pm CDT. Had to leave a message for "the service guy" to see if he could get the part. I left my phone number.

Receptionist made the comment about the part without prompting.

Receptionist said the service guy was at a shop in a different city at the moment but would contact him. It seemed possible she wasn't lying about him being in a different city given that there was more than one shop in the state listed with the same name.

I will update you all if there are developments.

I had a long talk with the service shop admin last week and she basically said it's impossible for a small independent shop to become an authorized Motorola service center. She says they are aware of the issues being reported. That's about all I could get from her.

I am sorry that happend to your droid. I am glad I opted for the insurance as I am tend to drop things alot. That is one reason why I will not drink out of a glass cup or tumber ect.
