Must buy phone from Verizon or Verizon affiliate?

I often see phones that Veriizon sells for sale elsewhere at much lower prices. If I get one will Verizon enable it on my account? Has anyone here done that? Thanks.

If you purchase through a 3rd party dealer, you should not have any problems. I am a Verizon vendor in Costco and we have never had a problem. The only time (I think) you would come into a problem is if you were purchasing a device off of ebay or Craig list, something like that, and the phone did not have a clear ESN (ie: stolen)
