Lost root on official 5.893 ota. Want to return phone to Vz. Cant get rid of Superuser and Google Videos still says I'm rooted.

What can people like me do to make the phone have no trace of root?

Tried Pete's one click unroot, doesn't work with 5.893

I would caution that there are no reports of use of this here or on XDA as it is developing, and this is probably the hard and long way, but if it works it will be the way to essentially do what would happen in a VZW store to bring a phone back to stock. A complete wipe.

And it probably has not been tested on 5.894, but could work. It should certainly work on 5.5.893 or lesser, and I am sure if you give it a little time someone might test on your cheesecake version. With you 5.894 you are going to have to do something reasonably extreme to get all traces up upgrading and modding, if you really want to pick baseband and webtop nits.

Thanks Craig! I made a typo. I really meant 5.893 not .894 cheesecake, but your reply will help myself and many more.

Try this one click path saver. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=190331 reverts everything back to 886. Just don't root when it asks if you want to root. If superuser is still installed go to manage applications and uninstall like any other application. You won't have any trouble with verizon after this.

Yes, this method is what would or should be like the old SBF days, the file and process a VZW store will/would use to restore a phone to dead stock, no mods of any kind. It is also possible to use a method like JK posted, but with the various states of kernels, mods, webtop hacks etc. that folks are on, you will usually find some folks in every one of these threads that cannot seem to get it to work correctly. Or they have a modded and tweaked configuration that has not been tested for that particular process.

It is not to say that this process is or would be 100% for everyone, but it is the last resort route, and the process is one which everyone who mods their phone should be able to use. Especially with our locked boot loader. If you use this process, you will gain the ability to recover from any situation. Assuming it works. I had thought that one of these threads would have had someone flash and report by now, I hope that does happen soon.

edit: Forgot, Willboy, modding it will not happen. These FXZ files are moto propriatary, as is RSD Lite. The best hope is that we have one of these that gets leaked by a moto/VZW employee for each OTA version we get for the phone. If you are talking about going from 901 to the released official ota 893, this could work. If you are talking about going to 901 then these type of files are only acquired after an official OTA has been released, and someone at moto/vzw leaks the file to someone. I do not recall a leaked fxz/sbf file ever coming out at the point of OTA launch, only some number of weeks after, when moto/vzw decides the stores or employees need a way to flash a borked phone.

Try this one click path saver. Getting back to OTA upgrade path, retaining root, 901 installation reverts everything back to 886. Just don't root when it asks if you want to root. P3droids path saver worked for me. Loaded up fine and I was able to uninstall Superuser and on .893. The only thing that I don't get is Google Videos app still recognizes my phone as being rooted, but I know it's not. Is it something I should worry about before returning the phone to VZ?
