Not unless you describe your situation. There are three "native" email client apps on the Droid, "gmail," "email" and "corporate email." There are several other third party email clients (e.g. K-9). Each email client can pull from multiple accounts and servers (including the defaul gmail server). In some instances servers can "push" email to your phone. (i.e. gmail server to gmail client.)
I'm sure you can see that the number of combinations and permutations run into the thousands.
yes...sorry about that. i have my yahoo pushed through gmail. its been like that since i got it. i have no other accounts or email apps. and ill get a email notification 3 or 4 times. and they are anywhere between 5 to 15 minutes apart.

I've noticed that on my POP mail, any unread message causes a notification every time the app rechecks my mail. After marking all the messages as 'read' it stopped. Also, you can turn off notifications in the settings area of your email app.
