You can use this file structure to play any mp3 for any TYPE of notification (ringtone sms mms email or alarm)... but not for individual contacts (except ringtones)
You just create the folders on your SD card using Windows/mac
Instructions for PC dummies:
mount your SD card to you PC...
OPEN the SD card (removable drive e: or what ever it is on your PC)to view files...
right click and goto "new" then "folder", then name the folder.
open that folder and do the same for each directory in the file structure!
Let's get this straight. You create all 4 folders off the root of the storage card?
Or is Audio the first folder with Ringtones, Alarms and Notifications under it?

This is correct (create all folders off the root). And I was able to use wma's for alarms, but I did have to power off and back on before it would recognize them.
Free app called tone picker will let you select any of your songs for any type of notification. When you click select ringtone, notification or whatever it gives the option to use tone picker and it lists all your songs and ringtones.
Yes you can create these folders ANYWHERE on the SD card...
Though ive received feedback from users sayin it did not work. ( though a reboot fixed this)
My file structure of a MEDIA folder with and AUDIO folder inside with the three event folders ( Ringtones, Alarms, Notifications) Has worked every time with no reboot, So i just gave the tried and tested way. To each their own, as long as you get it working RIGHT ?
I did this but when selecting alarm sounds I can't point to the SD card - only the onboard files. I also can't copy my sound into the System/Media/Audio/Alarm folder. Help.
